Alvin William “Al” Carlisle

Alvin William “Al” Carlisle was born on May 5, 1935 to Eugene and Vera (Cook) Carlisle in Sayre, OK. He passed on March 22, 2025 at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 17 days.

Al grew up in Sayre, OK with his mom and brother, Lloyd Carlisle. He attended school in Sayre until he enlisted in the U.S Navy at 17. He served in the Vietnam War. He met and married Betty Ahrndt on January 29, 1955, in Brownsville, TX and to this union three children were born Alvin William (Billy) Jr., Allan Carlisle, and Kathy Ford. After serving in the Navy, Al enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During this time in the military, his family lived in Germany, England, Africa, and Libia. In 1974, he retired from the military and moved back to Sayre, OK. In Sayre, he worked at Draper Motor Company selling cars. After Betty passed in 2004, Al met and married Mary Mc-Daniel and they moved to Elk City, OK.

In his spare time, Al enjoyed the outdoors, He loved to fish, camp, and spend his day at the lakes. He was also the family driver instructor for all the grandchildren and a few more. Al and Mary enjoyed traveling and setting up booths at flea markets. .

Al is preceded in death by his first wife Betty Carlisle and his second wife Mary Carlisle, parents Eugene and Vera Carlisle, son Billy Carlisle, daughter Kathy Ford, step daughter Misty Martin, and grandson Chris Ford.

He is survived by his son Allan Carlisle of Sayre, OK; stepson Johnny McDaniel of Elk City, OK; grandchildren Jessica Carlisle, Scott Ford, Tanner Carlisle, April Smith, Jason Carlisle, Katie Carlisle; great grandchildren Harley, Kaylee, Zoe, Alissa, Julie, Rusty, Preston, Daymon, Caden, Aubrey, and Cidney; 4 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
