Students attend STARBASE Academy

Students attend STARBASE Academy for 25 hours of “hands on, minds on” experiments, which align to 5th grade math and science standards set by the State of Oklahoma.

Students attend STARBASE Academy for 25 hours of “hands on, minds on” experiments, which align to 5th grade math and science standards set by the State of Oklahoma.

These Merritt students helped collect over 185 different food items to donate to the food pantry at Western Technology Center in Burns Flat, called P. Willy’s. P. Willy’s is a resource center for local high school students that attend WTC. They provide food, personal items and clothing. This helps students to continue their education with less stress.

The STARBASE staff and Merritt 5th graders partnered together in the food drive as an outreach project. Director Shannan Cloud stated, “If we are going to expect our students to be difference makers in our communities, we have to give them the opportunity to do so!”

More information can be found about STARBASE, Burns Flat on their Facebook page or at www.starbaseok. org.
