A 22-year-old Erick man is being held at the Beckham County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond after being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle with the intent to deprive the owner.

At approximately 12:10 am on October 26, an Elk City Police Department officer responded to a report of a Chevrolet Silverado that was allegedly taken from a residence on the 1100 block of West A Avenue in Elk City.

The alleged victim reportedly stated that someone had taken her vehicle from her residence and was headed south.

ECPD officers left the ECPD and drove to the area.

The reporting officer spoke to the alleged victim, who reportedly said that her vehicle was parked outside of her home with the keys inside of it.

The alleged victim had reportedly received a text message from another woman who allegedly had stated that the alleged victim “needed to give the truck back to Colby Speed before they pressed charges.”

The alleged victim later heard the truck start, the probable cause affidavit stated.

The truck was allegedly found in Erick. Speed was reportedly driving the truck at the time.

Speed allegedly admitted to taking the truck’s title to a dealership and got a spare key.

This is the second time Speed has been charged with allegedly unlawfully taking this truck.

The alleged victim reportedly bought the truck and has a bill of sale.

The alleged victim was notified of the truck’s location.
