Local optometrist, Dr. Lisa Walker, has announced that she is taking the opportunity to give back to the community this thanksgiving season. She is donating a free eye exam and a free full set of glasses each week through the rest of the year. She will be accepting nominations until all of the slots are filled, with one per week.

The only requirement to be nominated is that the person does not have any vision insurance and is in need. If there is someone who may benefit from her program, just mail the nomination letter to Dr. Walker at 106 N. Main St., Elk City, OK, 73644 or email [email protected] “In this season of thankfulness and new beginnings, we would like to give back to this incredible community by choosing one person a week for the rest of the year for a free exam and a full set of glasses donated by Dr. Walker. We would love for each of our followers to nominate someone in need by mailing a letter or sending us an email with the nominee’s name, age, phone number and a message explaining why you would like them to be nominated,” stated on Dr. Lisa Walker, Optometrist’s Facebook page.

Eye care is expensive and for those who do not have insurance or a means of paying for the exam or glasses, this is an excellent opportunity to give to those less fortunate. Giving the gift of sight is powerful, and Dr. Walker and her staff will be giving back.

This program started several years ago while honoring Dr. Ford’s contribution to the community. Dr. Walker has continued to give back, and this year is no exception. She continues to honor his legacy while helping others with this gift. Last year she surpassed the number of exams and glasses that she set out to give away, with 45 total donated. She did not turn away anyone in need during the program of thankfulness.
