Western Technology Center is committed to educating people for success and that means students are work ready. In 1995 the Sayre campus of Western Technology Center opened with training opportunities for high school and adult students in 5 career fields.
In year 2000, Vicky Gifford embarked on her Business Technology education at WTC-Sayre with Susanne Silk as her instructor. Later that same year, Jackie Stanley, Vicky’s mother, began her training at WTC-Sayre with Ms. Silk. Vicky’s sister, Deanna Briggs also received her business training under Ms. Silk’s instruction and in 2019 Vicky’s niece, Krista Alcorta began her business training. All these ladies were involved in the career tech student organization, now called BPA, Business Professionals of America, during their tenure at Western Technology Center. Ms. Stanley even served as Chaplain for her class.
All have gone on to serve their communities over the years through banking, medical records, real estate, dispatching, administrative assistants and being self-employed. Ms. Stanley commented that she remembers Ms. Silk’s “professionalism and how she cared for her students”.
Coming full circle, Vicky’s daughter, Tracy Gregory, is now enrolled in Ms. Silk’s Business Technology program majoring in Administrative Assistant and Graphic Design. At the recent Career Tech Student Organization meeting, Ms. Gifford officiated the BPA installation of the 2023-24 officers and Ms. Gregory is representing WTC-Sayre as Vice-President.
Western Technology Center loves being part of family history and celebrating the successes of our students!
