STILLWATER– Mason Smith, a junior from Elk City, Oklahoma, has been named to the Oklahoma State University Homecoming 2023 Executive Team.
Smith is an agribusiness pre-law major at OSU. He is the son of Shelia and Michael Smith.
“Prior to attending Oklahoma State, I had heard stories of Homecoming and the effect it had on the community and beyond,” Smith said. “However, it wasn’t until I participated myself that I truly understood how meaningful it was to the students and alumni. Taken aback by the passion found in each person who stepped onto campus, I knew I wanted to give back and instill the same type of joy I had found. In my role as Harvest Carnival Executive, I can encourage kids to begin their love for OSU and Homecoming in Stillwater. With this, I hope to carry on OSU’s greatest tradition and make an impact for generations to come.”
As part of the Homecoming Executive Team, Smith will coordinate the Harvest Carnival event, Chili Cook-Off, and Harvest Carnival canned food drive.
“My favorite thing about Homecoming is the opportunity to engage with past, present and future Cowboys!” Smith said.
The OSU Homecoming 2023 Executive Team is made up of nine students and oversees the 90- member Steering Committee, which together are responsible for putting on the largest student- run homecoming celebration in the United States. The Steering Committee is made up of nine sub-committees and oversees an additional 150 student volunteers coordinating every aspect of OSU’s Homecoming celebration.
OSU’s Homecoming is presented each year by the OSU Alumni Association and nationally recognized as America’s Greatest Homecoming. The event returns more than 80,000 alumni and friends to Stillwater during the fall to partake in the festivities and reconnect with their alma mater. Homecoming 2023 ‘The Year of the Cowboy’ is October 22-28. For more information, visit ORANGECONNECTION. org/homecoming or call the Homecoming hotline at 405.744.5410.
