Cancel-culture is a phrase coined in the 2010-2020 decade to refer to a culture in which those who are “deemed to have acted or spoken in an unacceptable manner are ostracized, boycotted or shunned.”
The cancel-culture has been compared to a medieval mob looking for someone to burn. Unfortunately, no one is immune to the insidious poison and possible cancellation of woke politics. It doesn’t seem to matter how long ago a person made their “offensive” comments or how passionate their apologies are, the social media mob and thought-police take no prisoners. A mob doesn’t have a brain; a mob can never be reasoned with.
As I was thinking about this—and frankly, feeling pretty irritated about how a small minority of people who lack good sense can create so much misery for everyone else—the Lord began to lead my thoughts in a different direction. First, I thought about God’s view of their activities: “Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, “As for me, I have set my King on
Zion, my holy hill.""Psalm.
Next I thought about how God tells us to respond: “FRET NOT yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness (that which is not upright or in right standing with God). For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust
(lean on, rely on, and be con. dent) in the Lord and do good;
so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed. And He will make your uprightness and right standing with God go forth as the light, and your justice and right as [the shining sun of] the noonday.
Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; FRET NOT yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; FRET NOT yourself–it tends only to evildoing.”
Then God showed me what true cancellation, coming from the hand of God, is all about: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm “He then goes on to say, And their sins and their lawbreaking I will remember no more.”Hebrews “Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah God is the Master of a spiritual “cancel culture” that lasts forever! When we say “YES” to the priceless gift of salvation offered by Jesus, our debt of sin is cancelled and will never be mentioned again—throughout eternity!
