Elk City Cross Country Teams, Individuals Place at Cache Meet

Elk City High School and Elk City Middle School Cross Country teams completed their third meet of the year, the Warrior Spirit XC Classic in Cache, on September 8.

Elk City High School and Elk City Middle School Cross Country teams completed their third meet of the year, the Warrior Spirit XC Classic in Cache, on September 8.

Jack Morgan won the varsity boys’ 5k race with a time of 16:31.00, a new personal-best for the ECHS senior. Senior Zach Rhodes placed 13th and freshman Luke Thomas placed 25th, earning both medals for a Top 25 finish. Also competing for the ECHS boys were freshman Colton Nebhut in 40th place, sophomore Jesse Nightingale in 45th place and sophomore Sonny Holladay in 51st place. The ECHS varsity boys finished the race in 5th place as a team.

ECHS also had two individual medalists in the JV boys’ 5k competition. Senior Jaser Reyes placed 17th and sophomore Eli Shelton 20th, earning the two Top 20 medals in the JV race. Sophomore Oliver Jones followed in 22nd place and junior Nick Morales came in 32nd.

All four ECHS girls finished in the Top 25 in the varsity girls’ 2-mile race. Junior Gabby Gilliam was the top runner for the ECHS girls, placing 11th overall. Gilliam was followed by sophomore Kate Ivester in 14th place, freshman Natilee Youngbull in 16th place and sophomore Josthna Pranabdev in 24th place.

Both ECMS boys’ and girls’ teams took 1st place at the Cache Meet.

Parker Felts won the middle school boys’ 2-mile race with a time of 12:40.44. Also medaling for the ECMS boys were Evan Yow in 10th place, Boone Barker in 18th place, Grey Foster in 19th place, Kase Kilhoffer in 20th place, Raul Espinoza in 23rd place and Gavin Bradshaw in 24th place. Also placing for the ECMS boys were Cooper Nebhut in 37th, Mikey Copeland in 40th, Christopher Whitecrow in 48th, Luis Arrieta in 52nd and Dashel Jones in 53rd.

Kaedynce Bennett was the top ECMS runner in the middle school girls’ 1-mile race, placing 5th overall. Also finishing in the Top 25 and earning individual medals were Jalyn Meadows in 13th place, Addi Caldwell in 14th place, Kayleigh Cooper in 16th place and Melodie Martinez in 18th place. Also placing for the ECMS girls were Murphy Smith in 27th place, Khloe Harrison in 29th place, Hazel Claborne in 39th place and Katie Wiesner in 44th place.

Next up for ECHS and ECMS Cross Country teams was the Anadarko Cross Country Invitational on September 15.
