Fall finally arrives this week on Saturday, 9/23! The rain and more tolerable temperatures have been wonderful. Now, just to get out of the upper 80’s!
The date is getting closer for the “Purple People Eater Fest”, with many activities planned for the three day event, beginning on September 29th and lasting through October 1st. They are still currently accepting vendors and also parade entries. Groups or individuals can contact Megan Wreyford at City Hall or go to their Facebook page, “City of Erick – Government”. So many activities are planned and you can see all of this on the Facebook page or in the ad in this newspaper.
This is just a very brief listing of events taking place that weekend. There will be a Purple People Eater Picture Show (a movie in the part at 8:00 on Friday night, a Purple Parade downtown on Saturday morning at 10:00; Sheb’s Shindig, a street dance on Saturday night from 8-11 p.m., featuring the Jimmy Lee Jordan Band, a pancake breakfast planned for Sunday morning, plus Wooley’s Bazaar, a three day vendor’s market to display and sell their items. Not to mention a Car Smash, dunk tank, and a raffle for a hog hunt (knives only!) at the Lost Creek Ranch. The hog hunt winner will be announced Saturday night. Tickets for the hog hunt raffle are $5 each. Again, for more information, please contact Megan at Erick City Hall at 580526-3924 for all of the details.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Sandy Downs. Services were held this past Friday at Texola Baptist Church.
