A 38-year-old Elk City man is being held on a $30,000 bond at the Beckham County Detention Center on charged robbery or attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon when convicted three separated and distinct felonies.

The investigation began at approximately 8:35 pm on September 6 when Elk City Police were dispatched to the area of Hayden Boulevard and Crestview Drive in reference to a firearm.

“Dispatch advised officers the subject had pulled a gun on the reporting party, was yelling in the yard about shooting people, and then was armed with a small handgun,” the reporting officer wrote.

Upon arrival, ECPD officers were met by several residents of the area who stated the male subject, later identified as Johnie Lee Ditmore, had ran into his nearby residence.

Officers attempted to get Ditmore to come outside, the report states.

Ditmore had allegedly confronted a man about $50 he said that he owed him. A homeowner demanded he leave his property.

Ditmore allegedly refused to leave and was reportedly then punched by the homeowner.

At this point, Ditmore allegedly pulled his gun.
