A Hammon man has been released on bond on a $7,500 bond for charges of possession of a stolen or converted vehicle, possession of a vehicle with the intent to deprive the owner, and knowingly possessing stolen property.
The investigation began, however, on August 11 after a Beckham County Sheriff’s Office deputy received information that allegedly claimed Jeffrey Allen Airehart might be driving a BMW convertible and might have fentanyl.
The information allegedly said that another man had bought the BMW but that Airehart might be driving it.
Two days later, the reporting BCSO deputy reportedly spotted the BMW leaving Hutch’s Westside.
The deputy was able to catch up with the BMW as it turned north on Falcon Road in Elk City.
The BMW reportedly led the deputy to townhouses and then parked in the parking lot.
The deputy was assisted by an Elk City Police Department officer. A second BSCO deputy also assisted.
The law enforcement agents waited approximately an hour for the BMW to leave.
The Elk City Police Department dispatchers reportedly learned the vehicle could possibly be stolen from Texas.
Airehart was driving. An inventory of the vehicle was reportedly not completed due to heavy rain.
A wrecker took the vehicle to a barn in their yard for a later inventory.
The vehicle’s inventory was not included in the report.
