Herndon Drives In 5 To Lead Merritt Past Mooreland

Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP won thanks in part to six runs in the sixth inning. Gracie Smith singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Herndon hit a grand slam to center field.

A double by Tralee McCain put Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP on the board in the bottom of the first.

Autumn Vanzee hit a grand slam, which helped Mooreland Varsity Lady-Cats tie the game at four in the top of the sixth.

Leia Snuggs began the game for Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP. They surrendered six hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking two. Emma Case stepped in the circle first for Mooreland Varsity LadyCats. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and 10 runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking one.

McCain went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP in hits. Marley Mong collected two hits for Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP in four at bats. Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP turned one double play in the game. Merritt Varsity Oilerettes FP didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hallie Smith had the most chances in the field with eight.

Vanzee provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mooreland Varsity LadyCats with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hannah Howard, Hailee Scarborough, Katelynn Purviance, Kaydence Anderson, Vanzee, and Olivia Clem each collected one hit for Mooreland Varsity LadyCats.
