Elk City Varsity Elkettes defeated Little Axe Varsity Indians 7-1 on Friday thanks in part to four runs in the first inning. Aubrie Pogue tripled, scoring one run, Emily Lowrance drew a walk, scoring one run, and Daycie Newman doubled, scoring two runs.
Elk City Varsity Elkettes added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Lowrance doubled, Ragan Hulen singled, and Jacee Baker singled, each scoring one run.
Baker earned the win for Elk City Varsity Elkettes. They allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking five. Pigion took the loss for Little Axe Varsity Indians. The right-handed pitcher went five innings, surrendering seven runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking five.
Blakely Ball, Lowrance, Brianna Butler, Hulen, Newman, Ella Sottile, Baker, and Pogue each collected one hit for Elk City Varsity Elkettes. Newman went 1-for-3 at the plate as the catcher led the team with two runs batted in. Elk City Varsity Elkettes had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Elk City Varsity Elkettes turned one double play in the game. Elk City Varsity Elkettes didn’t commit a single error in the field. Newman had the most chances in the field with four.
Alexus and Jomes each collected one hit for Little Axe Varsity Indians. Alexus went 1-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in. Kenzie Pierce paced Little Axe Varsity Indians with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying five walks for the game.
