Elks Lodge offers an upgraded menu and adds fun events BPOE #2343 inspired to bring in new and younger members

For as long as Elk City and surrounding schools have been giving scholarships, the Elks Lodge has been listed as one of the groups giving to worthy students.

In fact, Elks Lodge #2343 Trustee Jerry Dean said the group has always been charity- focused, a 501(c)3 organization that dedicates itself to the community.

“We give to scholarships, Miles on Wheels, and Help, Inc.,” Dean explained. “It’s always had a board group of leadership, and then there are five trustees. I am one of them. We want to have more members, and this new menu will appeal to everyone.”

Dean said the menu was assisted by Trey Campbell, their Ben E. Keith representative. The development process wasn’t overnight, but several new items have already proven to be a hit.

“We buy through Trey,” Dean said. “We told Trey what we wanted to do, and there’s a chef who works for Ben E. Keith who he highly suggests. This guy knows all their products and has individualized recipes. The chef came out to help us. The menu hadn’t been changed in a decade, so it was due for it. I’m like you and want a good, simple steak. We have that. We have also added some great pasta dishes. We still have the salad bar, but we have three new salads that are made in-house. People seem to like that. The chicken mango is fantastic!”

Dean said the Elks Lodge has a golf tournament coming up on September 9.

“We put everything we make from that back into scholarships,” Dean stated.

Dean invites people to consider joining the Elks.

“Just talk to any member, and we will help you. We take men and women. A long time ago, women weren’t allowed, but now they have full memberships. In fact, my wife is a member.”
