SWOSU & Weatherford Rotary Name Gallagher and Taylor as Newest World Language Scholars

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon along with the Weatherford Rotary Club have jointly announced that Cameron Gallagher and Brooklyn Taylor have been named the institution’s newest SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholars.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon along with the Weatherford Rotary Club have jointly announced that Cameron Gallagher and Brooklyn Taylor have been named the institution’s newest SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholars.

Gallagher is a senior at SWOSU from Longniddry, Scotland. He is majoring in chemistry and minoring in world languages and chemistry. He is also a member of the SWOSU Men’s Golf Team. Gallagher plans to pursue medical school after graduation.

Taylor is from Oklahoma City. She is a freshman at SWOSU majoring in nursing, and minoring in world languages. Taylor was recently elected as the vice president and secretary of the SWOSU World Languages and Cultures Association.

The SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholarship was proposed by Dr. Tugba Sevin, world languages coordinator in the SWOSU Department of Language & Literature, and established through joint funding provided by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc., and the Weatherford Rotary Club.

The scholarship benefits students studying in the Department of Language & Literature who have designated world languages as a minor degree component.

“Our World Languages studies are a dynamic part of what we offer students here in the SWOSU Language & Literature Department,” SWOSU President Dr. Diana Lovell said. “We are so grateful to Weatherford Rotary and the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. for making this financial assistance to our students possible, and we are thrilled to congratulate Cameron Gallagher and Brooklyn Taylor on being named the newest SWOSU- Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholars.”

The SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholarship is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. The foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU.
