A 41-year-old Elk City man has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond after being charged with child sexual abuse and rape by instrumentation.

The investigation began on June 11, when an Elk City Police Department detective was advised of a report of alleged molestation.

Details from the probable cause affidavit are being withheld due to the sensitive nature.

However, the detective was allegedly provided home video camera footage of the alleged crimes.

The district attorney believes the evidence discovered supports charging Bobby Joe Harper with the two serious felonies.

If convicted, Harper faces up to life imprisonment and classifi cation of a sex offender.

Harper is due back in court on September 11.
