A medical fund has been established at First National Bank, soon to be changed to Sovereign Bank, and GoFundMe for a 22-year-old Sayre man recently injured in a collision.

The crash victim has been identified as Jonathan E. Dicus. Dicus’s mother, Christie Kirtley, said on Sunday morning that Dicus has endured five surgeries in the previous nine days. She reported that he currently does not have feeling in his right hand or left leg.

Doctors are not certain how long Dicus will be hospitalized, but it is projected to be a while before he is released. It is also unclear if he will have a full recovery or have remaining medical needs after he is discharged from inpatient care.

Kirtley thanked all those who have helped her son, particularly the person who stopped with him immediately following the wreck and the ambulance crew.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported upon a personal injury collision that occurred at approximately 6:49 am on March 23.

The collision reportedly occurred on I-40 at the 34.5 mile marker, located two miles west of Elk City.

Jonathan E. Dicus, 22 of Sayre, was driving a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. Jesus Pinoco, 56 of Kress, Texas, was driving a 2018 Kenworth semi. Dicus reportedly struck Pinoco head on. Dicus was pinned for approximately 10 minutes before being freed by the Elk City Fire Department.

Dicus was transported to OU Medical Center by Elk City EMS. He was admitted with head, trunk, arm, and leg injuries.

Pinoco was not injured.

Both drivers were reported to be in normal condition and were using seatbelts.

The OHP was assisted by the Elk City Fire Department, Elk City EMS, and the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office.
