A 41-year-old Elk City City man has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center on a $3,500 bond after being charged with resisting an officer, public intoxication, and felony assault and battery on a police officer.
The investigation began on August 5 at approximately 9:25 am when an Elk City Police Department officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Blackburn in reference to a male subject allegedly acting erratically.
“Several callers had reported that a shirtless male subject was wondering into their front yards. They described the male subject as yelling at no one and acting as if he was possibly intoxicated,” the report states.
The reporting officer found a shirtless male matching the description, identified as Adam Tyrel Currie.
The officer alleged that Currie was under the influence of an intoxicating substance, likely methamphetamine.
Currie was reportedly placed in handcuffs. “After being placed in the handcuffs, Currie began to pull away from me,” the officer wrote. “In order to control Currie, I took him to the ground and waited on additional police to arrive.”
Once at the Elk City Jail, Currie allegedly remained “uncooperative.”
At some point, Currie allegedly bit an ECPD officer.
