Thomas Jackson Bradley, Jr., “Jack”, age 88, died Saturday, August 5, 2023 in the Veterans Medical Center at Claremore, Oklahoma following his health issue with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mr. Bradley was born November 4, 1934 at Mason, Oklahoma in Okfuskee County, the son of Thomas Jackson Bradley, Sr. and Meddie Maye Freeman Bradley. He attended school through the 2nd grade in Mason, Ok., then moved to the Cheyenne, Oklahoma area where he lived and graduated in 1953 from Cheyenne High School. He entered the U. S. Army in 1954 getting an honorable discharge in 1957 as a SP4. He was a disabled Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
JackmarriedBarbaraAnnSearsonJuly14,1960at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They had three children. Barbara preceded him in death in 2004. He married Dolores A. Williams on March 26, 2005 at Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Jack attended Oklahoma City University majoring in Industrial Education and received his degree in 1962. He started teaching electronics in the Mid-Del School System in 1959 and taught for thirty-two years for the Midwest City High School and Mid-Del Vo Tech. He served as Vice Principal from 1979 to 1991 and had served as Assistant Director of the Mid-Del Vo-Tech. He received a Masters in Trade Industrial Education in 1972. He served as President of the State Trade and Industrial Educators Association and Vice President of the Nationals Trade and Industrial Educators Association during the 1960’s. Mr. Bradley retired in 1991.
Jack had been a club sponsor for the Vocational Industrial Club of America. He had been active in the Capitol Hill Free Will Baptist Church. He was baptized and added to the Lord’s church in 2004. He was a member of the congregation of the Owasso Church of Christ. He became active with the National Evangelism of Sojourners in 2006 becoming inactive in 2014 due to health concerns. He and his wife Dolores loved traveling in their RV as Sojourners to help with physical and spiritual needs of churches of Christ, as well as Christian children’s homes, universities, and camps. He especially loved traveling in the motorhome and taking cruises. He loved all sports and had been a football and basketball referee. He was a very loyal OSU Cowboy fan, and has his name and yearofgraduationengravedinabrickontheOSUcampus. His hobbies have included wood working, gardening, fishing, playing card and board games, and in later years was an avid Bingo player. He was a member of the Oklahoma Home and Community Education, Owasso Jewels Group, a volunteer community organization through OSU. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 237 of Owasso, Okla.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; his father Thomas J. Bradley; his mother, Meddie Bradley; his paternal grandparents Wm. Johnson Bradley and Elizabeth Jane Mayfield; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Survivors include a blended family of 6 children; son David Lee Bradley of Amarillo, two daughters and their husbands, Dana and Brian Thompson of Lewisville, TX and Rhonda and David Matney of Oak Point, Tx., Sharilyn and David Munroe of Owasso, Ok., Audri and Randy Barthel of Tulsa, Okla. and Walter McMahan of Lexington, Tx.; 11 grandchildren with their spouses, Alicia and Jim Holman, Nicholas and Xemina Mullins, Abbey and Brandon Campbell, Trevan and Ethan Wyatt, T. J. Bradley and his fiancé Morgan Bowles, Leah and Caison Matney, Jamie and her fiancé Jordan Hickson, Stephanie Munroe, Jessica and AJ Smith, Joshua McMahan; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister Betty Laxton of Sayre, Ok.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 11,2023, at Baptist Village Alsup Chapel in Owasso, Oklahoma with Dan Schnell, minister of the Owasso Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors and burial will be held at 3:30 p.m., at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma CIty, Oklahoma. Pall bearers will be T. J. Bradley, Ethan Wyatt, Mark Braisher, Jim Holman, and Nick Mullins. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 6660 S. Sheridan Rd, Suite 202, Tulsa, OK 74133, or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service.
