Lady Eagles start out lighting up the softball diamond

Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles defeated Cordell Varsity Lady Blue Devils 12-0 on Saturday thanks in part to seven runs in the second inning. Payton Ewer doubled, scoring one run, Emily Easter tripled, scoring two runs, a wild pitch scored one run, Addi Mariano drew a walk, scoring one run, and Layla Stout grounded out, scoring two runs.

Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Laney Easter drew a walk, scoring one run, Easter doubled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Raine Rippetoe singled, scoring one run.

Rippetoe earned the win for Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Mackinlee Brunker took the loss for Cordell Varsity Lady Blue Devils. They went two innings, allowing 12 runs (five earned) on five hits, striking out four and walking six.

Easter went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles in hits. Mariano led Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Stout, Mariano, and Lila Whitney each stole multiple bases for Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles. Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles ran wild on the base paths, tallying eight stolen bases for the game.

Audrey Gatilin went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Cordell Varsity Lady Blue Devils in hits.
