Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles Secure Win Against Navajo Varsity Indians

A ground out by Lilly Rodriquez put Navajo Varsity Indians on the board in the bottom of the first.

Navajo Varsity Indians added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Karisa Callins laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Avery Rempel singled, each scoring one run.

In the top of the fifth inning, Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles went back into the lead after Gracie Myers singled, Emily Easter singled, and Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Payton Ewer earned the win for Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles. They allowed eight hits and four runs over five innings, striking out two and walking one. Rodriquez took the loss for Navajo Varsity Indians. They went five innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking five.

Myers and Easter were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles while hitting back-toback. Easter went 3-for-3 at the plate as the catcher led the team with two runs batted in. Layla Stout collected two hits for Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles in two at bats. Ewer led Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Sayre Varsity Lady Eagles were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Myers had the most chances in the field with five.

Callins led Navajo Varsity Indians with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Rempel and Kynnedy Guthrie each collected two hits for Navajo Varsity Indians. Rempel stole three bases. Navajo Varsity Indians were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sabrina Gilbert had the most chances in the field with eight.
