On 07/28/23, Detectives received a call from the Federal Bureau of Investigations concerning their investigation of an internet crime against children. Detectives were told that a male subject was online at this time, and they (FBI) had reason to believe that an assault of a child was imminent. The Elk City Police formed an entry team and made entry into the residence located in the 400 block of west 6th street detaining the suspect and securing the scene. The FBI arrived and took the suspect into custody. Detectives with the Elk City Police Department observed 5 juvenile females inside the residence with ages ranging from 6 to 14 years of age.
Due to the nature of the allegations from the FBI, Elk City pursued the investigation and additional information, and evidence was obtained. On 08/02/2023 a search warrant was served by Elk City Detectives at the residence and additional evidence was obtained and charges are expected to be filed in Beckham County District Court next week. This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be released concerning this matter when feasible.
