The OkACTE Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Western Technology Center Superintendent, Kathe Corning, at the 2023 Oklahoma Summit in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Association for Career and Technical Education (OkACTE) is a dynamic educational leadership organization. OkACTE members are the backbone of career and technology education and workforce education policy development in Oklahoma.
Ms. Kathe Corning has been working in the Oklahoma CareerTech system and serving western Oklahoma for 45 years. Corning began her CareerTech journey at Western Technology Center in 1978 as a Fashion Trades Teacher. She has continued to serve in a variety of capacities including Education Enhancement Coordinator and Special Needs Representative, Assessment Director, Assistant Superintendent/ Director of Student Services prior to becoming the Superintendent in 2020. Ms. Corning is a proven liaison with teachers, staff, students, and community leaders demonstrating excellence in communication, organization, critical thinking, management, and fiscal accountability. WTC Superintendent Corning has a strong vision for the district and the leadership skills to guide and facilitate Western Technology Center’s growth.
Western Technology Center has been serving/training western Oklahoma since 1970. WTC provides industry- certified training for high school and adult students. Short-term classes are also available for skill enhancement opportunities and Business and Industry customized training assists local businesses with a ready workforce. Western Technology Center is part of the Oklahoma CareerTech system, which offers programs and services in 29 technology center districts and operates on 59 campuses across the state. CareerTech plays a vital role in developing a world-class workforce for Oklahoma employers and prepares Oklahomans to succeed in the workplace, in education and in life.
