Lincoln New Age is a civic group primarily focused on helping school children and the elderly in Elk City meet their unmet needs.
“We are here to try to stand in the gaps for our local families. We are currently focused on refurbishing our community center,” said LNA Secretary Jackie Anderson.
Also serving the group’s leadership are President Mike Smith, Vice President Marveta Robison, Treasurer Shena Harrison, Treasurer Bridgette Wiseman, Trustee Jessica Jones, and Coordinator Kenneth Jones.
The group comes from a group initially focused on meeting the needs of Elk City’s Lincoln Edition. That mission is now to serve all in-need community residents as they can.
“We want everyone to know that all are welcome to join Lincoln New Age!,” the group emphasized. “We might have started our work in the Lincoln community, but we support, assist, accommodate, and admire everyone, regardless of race, age, creed, or preference. We want Elk City to be a city that takes care of all its citizens.”
Membership is only $5 per month and can be sent to Sheena Harrison through Cash App. Her profile is $Inez003. Memberships can also be obtained by contacting any of the board members.
“Right now, we are renovating the old auditorium soon. We are also trying to help the kiddos with school supplies and, hopefully, new gear. We appreciate pencils. All school supplies are accepted and greatly appreciated,” Anderson added.
They aim to serve all with anything that might hinder their growth as a human being.
LNA also plans to continue their annual traditions of a community Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas Connection to help with gifts, an Easter Egg hunt, care of Evergreen Cemetery, Community Clean-Up, Wellness Checks, Juneteenth Celebrations, a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, upgrade of their community building, and Kiddy Korner.
LNA is a non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible. They hold regular meetings open to all members and the public.
“This is a mission of love,” Anderson said. “We are here to try to help all God’s people, and we welcome all who want to help and need help. We may not always be able to meet every need, but we will do what we can to assist. Any help, big or small, is greatly appreciated. We are all alike and have chosen Beckham County to be our home. God commands us to love our neighbors like we love ourselves. This is the best way we can think of to do that.”
