It has been a rough season for Rod Fauver and Joe McConnell because of the unexpected rain, but they have come out on top according to Elk City Chamber of Commerce. It was because of their dedication to bringing an alternative form of entrainment to Elk City and the surrounding communities.
During their July 22nd race, they gave away 27 bikes and over 100 t-shirs to children who came to the races. Those who sponsored the cause were Lance Wilson with RTR House Rentals, and David Loyd, Sr, of Jay’s Brakes and Alignment. This will be an annual event according to Mc- Connell.
Others donating to the bike give-away were Bobby Whittemire, Robert Elliott, Robert and Sunshine Mathes with Parties on Purpose, Barbwire and Lace Unique Home Décor and More, Elk City Powersports, Harley Manacher, Nathan Willis and OJK Services, LLC, Adrian Rodriguez, Jack Hall Racing, William Avila, James Workman and Riley Workman, Team Dirt Dog, and Pearson and Son Racing.
The next big race will take place Aug. 26th, which is being called, “the Back to School Bash.” The racing will include the team Dirt Dog 305 sprints, Factory stocks and tuners. Cars come from several states to be a part of this track.
There has been quality racing that is bringing out quality cars and racers. All they need are more people to come out to appreciate the drivers and what they are able to do on this unique dirt track. For anyone who has not been able to be a part of the races, Fauver and McConnell would like to invite them to try it, come out and be a part of a rich American tradition.
For more information see their Facebook page, Elk City Motorsports Park. Winners will also be posted there after each race, compliments of Maxx Ramsey Photography.
