A search warrant has been issued for a 19-year-old Sayre man after being charged with consuming intoxicants in public, malicious injury to property less than $2,500, disturbing the peace by loud or unusual noise or abusive, violent, obscene, profane or threatening language, and resisting an executive officer.

The warrant was issued for Brayden Phillips in Beckham County District Court on March 28.

The investigation began at approximately 11:19 pm on January 21 when the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office heard a radio traffic call from the Sayre Police Department in reference to a call about an “intoxicated male with a firearm.”

The call was to an apartment on the 2200 block of North Electra.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper also arrived on the scene.

The reporting deputy observed a broken window in the upstairs apartment and a door broken off the hinges.

Law enforcement reported watching the apartment and could hear yelling and see movement by the broken window.

“At one point, the male subject yell, ‘Just (expletive) shoot me,’” the deputy wrote.

Several minutes later, the deputy observed a male subject exit the apartment.

The man was allegedly running toward the officers down the outside staircase.

The officers reportedly commanded the man to get onto the ground, but the man allegedly would not comply.

The OHP trooper reportedly got the man on the ground and placed him in handcuffs.

The deputy then learned that the man was Brayden Phillips.

Phillips was allegedly intoxicated.

“Once the male subject was placed in hand restraints, I escorted him to my passenger seat of my patrol vehicle, the whole time walking with him, he tried to pull away several times. He was yelling,” the deputy wrote.

Witnesses reportedly stated that Phillips had been drinking.

Sinor Emergency Medical Services was called to perform a medical check on Phillips.

Phillips had reportedly hit his head on the deputy’s passenger side window, breaking the window of the patrol vehicle.

Phillips was then taken out of the patrol vehicle to receive medical treatment.

“Medics were spit on. Other officers and I were kicked by Brayden as well,” the deputy added.

Phillips was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center.

The deputy reportedly later learned that Phillips was transported to OU Medical Center for further testing.
