A 47-year-old Sayre man has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center on a $5,500 bond after being charged with resisting officers, domestic assault, and possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation began on July 14 when Sayre Police Department was radioed by a fireman about an alleged active domestic assault on North Broadway.

A witness had allegedly seen people fighting.

Joseph Maoikra allegedly pulled up next to a woman, demanding that she get into his car.

When the woman refused, Maokira allegedly got out of the vehicle and “hit her.”

Maoikra was reportedly found quickly, but allegedly resisted officers when they attempted to detain him.

Witness statements were taken that reportedly supported the alleged abused.

While being booked in the Beckham County Detention Center, .68 grams of methamphetamine was allegedly found in the suspect’s wallet.
