Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination!
Join the Red Carpet Community Theatre Academy on Friday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 2 at 2:30 p.m. onstage as they tell the delightful story of a special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Matilda, played by Doura Jewell Doby Senz from Elk City, has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey who is played by Emily Barnes from Elk City. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Agatha Trunchbull, portrayed by Rylee Yeager from Elk City, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!
This fun-loving cast also includes: Sergei: Becca Barnard, Merritt; Tommy: Presley Bentley, Sayre; Hortensia: Addison Burrows, Hobart; Mrs. Wormwood: Brynlee Bustin, Elk City; Acrobat: Abby Cox, Sayre; Escapeologist, Rudolpho: Trever Dye, Sayre; Eric: Ella Gordon, Merritt; Amanda: Annabelle Hagerman, Erick; Nigel: Natalee Hagerman, Erick; Bruce, Michael: Samuel Holcomb, Leedey; Mrs. Phelps: Brailee Jones, Elk City; Lavender: Kaydean Nalley, Sayre; Alice: Jaelynn Simmons, Burns Flat; and Mr. Wormwood: Thomas Wiesner, Elk City.
