ECPD Detective Weygand and Beckham County Court Reporter Becky Storm attend the Oklahoma Court Reporter Assocation’s annual convention.

Like most officers within the court system, Oklahoma court reporters are required to obtain continued education each year.

The Oklahoma Court Reporters Association Convention was held at the Waterford Marriott in Oklahoma City on June 16-17.

Beckham County Court Reporter Becky Storm was in attendance. However, she wasn’t the only Beckham County resident in attendance.

Elk City Police Department Detective Sammy Weygand II taught an 8:30-10 am class titled “Active Shooter Training.”

Weygand has offered similar training to area schools.

The class was worth 1.5-hour credits for court reporters in attendance.

When asked if the newspaper could publish the photographs from the weekend’s convention, Storm said, “I have one stipulation. I would like it to be known he (Weygand) didn’t charge for the program. That says so much about him.”
