On Saturday, June 17, 2023, the Great Plains District of the Oklahoma Society of NSDAR, consisting of the Washita, Malcolm Hunter, Lawton, Fort Reno, Duncan Indian Territory, Chisholm Fork, and Black Beaver Chapters, proudly unveiled and dedicated an America 250! Patriot Marker at the Thomas Stafford Air & Space Museum, Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Attending the Dedication Ceremony and unveiling the America 250 Patriot Marker was Oklahoma State Regent Nancy Lisle, Honorary State Regent Teresa Cales, Vice President General, Honorary State Regent and Oklahoma America 250! Committee Chair Sue Allen, along with DAR daughters from all across the state. Max Ary spoke about how honored the Stafford Museum is to have the Patriot Marker at the museum and gave greetings from General Stafford. After the unveiling, a reception was held in the Explorer’s Room at the Museum.
The America 250! Patriot Marker will be a constant reminder of those patriots who fought for our freedom during the Revolutionary War against the British from 1775-1783.
In three years we will be celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and the National Society of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution is thrilled to raise awareness of the courage and sacrifice of the Patriots who won America’s independence through the DAR America 250! Patriots Marker project..
The National Society’s goal is to place at least one marker (or more!) in every state in advance – and in celebration – of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The Patriot Marker located at the Thomas Stafford Air & Space Museum is one of five patriot markers being placed in the great state of Oklahoma.
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution represent women who have proven their lineage back to a Revolutionary War Patriot.
