Recent court filings have shown an alleged uptick in assaults upon local law enforcement.
The latest case comes with the arrest of a 41-year-old Burns Flat woman, Dana Michelle Mims.
Mims has been charged with possessing drug paraphernalia, knowingly possessing a controlled substance, battery upon a police offi cer, and resisting an officer.
The case was filed in Beckham County District Court on June 5, but the incident allegedly occurred on April 13.
An Elk City Police Department officer had reportedly observed Mims and knew she had outstanding warrants.
Mims was allegedly walking near a convenience store on South Main Street at the time.
After confirming the warrants, the officer reportedly attempted to detain Mims while she was in the store.
However, Mims reportedly attempted to go to the restroom.
The officer wrote that he believed this was an attempt to discard narcotics.
While attempting to detain Mims, she allegedly resisted the officer and assaulted him.
Mims reportedly complained about wrist pain following the arrest but was medically cleared by Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
Mims allegedly possessed a syringe with methamphetamine at the time of her arrest.
Mims is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $3,500 bond.
