Ivory ‘N Ovations goes Purple for Alzheimer Awareness

18 piano students of Ivory ‘N Ovations presented a spring recital at Homestead Senior Living facility in Elk City on May 25 at 2 p.m. Ivory ‘N Ovations is the piano studio of Mrs. Jerri Headrick in Sayre. Students from eight to eighteen years old shared their polished piano solos to the audience of family and friends. The Studio practice incentive this spring was a fundraiser for Western Oklahoma Alzheimer Collaborative. Students asked people to sponsor them per day of practice during the spring semester. Over $1500 was raised and more continues tocomein. Aspecialthanks to Homestead residents and staff for hosting the students and parents. A unique treat was a duet performed by Ms. Paula Isch and Mrs. Jerri Headrick to begin the recital. Ms. Isch is a Homestead resident and continues to play and do some teaching. What an inspiration she is!

Students performed solos that they had recently played at either District or State OMTA auditions. All students pictured participated in district and/or state auditions. District Auditions took place in March. Four students received a score of I-, eight students received a score of I, and ten students received I+. These students received a 1+ at either District or State: Addelyn Hartman, Christian Bales, Delaney Tignor, Ben Robinson, July Vernon, An-nabelle Hagerman, Natalee Hagarman, Emily High, Cassidy Crabb, Emma Ferrero, Melissa Zakrzewicz, Nicole Musick, Lucien Zakrzewicz, online students: Nora Headrick and Mary Cruthird. Students performed for auditions and also completed a theory exam for their level. Natalee Hagerman and Mary Cruthird received a score of 100 for their theory exam. Emily High and Lucien Zakrzewicz are graduating seniors this year. Mrs. Headrick made a special presentation to them and shared treasured memories of their piano study. At the conclusion of the recital, purple goody bags full of purple candies were distributed to continue the Alzheimer purple theme.
