A 43-year-old former Elk City Police Department officer has been charged with second-degree burglary, unlawfully wearing a mask and hood, grand larceny, and child neglect.
Robert Shaun Leitz has since been released from the Beckham County Detention.
Also charged in the case is Leitz’s reported partner, Desaray Brunton.
The investigation reportedly began on May 2 when an ECPD detective learned of an alleged burglary that reportedly occured on the 200 block of North Boone in Elk City.
Leitz was listed as a suspect. “Your affiant knew this subject to be a former police officer in the local area,” the detective wrote. “Your affiant knows that Robert was identified by witnesses in the video of the burglary that occurred at the location listed above.”
During the execution of a search warrant, the detective reportedly located one stolen firearm and an upper half of one of the reported stolen riles. The search warrant was served at the home of the two suspects, located in the 400 block of McArther in Elk City.
The detective also allegedly discovered “two lined up white power substances with a straw on a notebook in the master bedroom next to the bed where Robert and Desaray sleep.”
Brunton allegedly confessed to possessing the controlled dangerous substance.
The detective noted that a juvenile reportedly resides in the residence.
