Elk City School Board holds May meeting

The Elk City School Board met at 6 pm on May 8 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

The board started by approving April’s minutes.

No comments from the public were made.

Typical of May school board meetings, the meeting was quick and primarily end-of-year housekeeping.

The board voted to approve the Hearing-Impaired Consultant Services Agreement with Sayre Public Schools for the 2023-2024 school year.

Superintendent Mike Sparks said the two school districts had this cooperative agreement in the past as a measure to provide the best service to their students while sharing the costs.

The board approved the Rehabilitation Services Agreement with Great Plains Regional Medical Center for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved the Oklahoma State School Board Association’s policy subscription renewal.

Lastly, the board approved the contract for drug testing of students involved in extracurricular activities through Express Workforce Solutions for the 2023-2024 school year.

The next meeting will be held on June 12 at 6 pm and will be the first meeting focused solely on the upcoming school year.
