Elk City man sentenced to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections

A 44-year-old Elk City man has been sentenced to ten years in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a protective order violation, child neglect, and child endangerment. One charge of child sexual assault had been dropped.

A 44-year-old Elk City man has been sentenced to ten years in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a protective order violation, child neglect, and child endangerment. One charge of child sexual assault had been dropped.

Nicholas Adam Garrett has previously faced a jury trial on these charges, but Judge Weedon was forced to declare a mistrial when a juror became ill.

Garrett was sentenced to ten years in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections with all but the first five years suspended.

Garrett was also given credit for time served.

The sentence is to run concurrently with a five-year sentence Garrett also received for driving under the influence.
