The annual Summer Arts Camps have been decided and registration is now open. There are two different age groups with camps directed which are age appropriate. The class sizes are limited, and registration will be open until the classes are full. The cost is $25 per class and will run from June 5th through June 29th . Each class is eight sessions. Tuition includes a camp T-shirt.
The camp will be held at the Susan Powell Fine Arts Center. The program is held in partnership with the Elk City United Fund and the Elk City Public Schools. At the end of the camp there will be a Showcase held on June 29th at 7 p.m. in the Kelli O’Hara Elk City Pioneer Performing Arts Center.
Classes for kids ages six to eight-years-old will take place Monday and Wednesday starting at 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The choices at that timeslot are Art for Beginners or Art II. The classes from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for this age group will be Arts and Crafts.
Tuesday and Thursday classes for the six to eight age group are Beginning Dance or Music for Kids at 9 a.m., to 10:15 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m., to 11:45 a.m., the class is Youth Acting.
On Monday and Wednesday, children from ages nine to 11 may take Arts and Crafts at 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. From 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. campers can take Art for Beginners or Art II. On Tuesday and Thursdays, the nine to 11 year olds can take Youth Acting at 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and Beginning Dance or Music for Kids at 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Youth and young adults from 12 years-old and up will take place in the afternoons Monday through Thursday. There are two different sessions, the first runs from June 5th through the 15th. Journalism and Creative Writing or Art I will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 2:15 p.m., then at 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. they may take Photography or Art II.
The next session runs from June 19th through June 29th with two different times. The first one starts at 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. The class choices are Acting or Art of Pastels. The second class starts at 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., and the choices are Turn Up Dance Fitness or All You Need is Music.
