On Thursday, April 27th, 2023, a joint training operation involving WTC-Sayre, Beckham County Sheriff’s Offi ce, Sayre Police Department and Sinor Emergency Medical Services took place at the Bobcat Creek RV and Convenience Store on Highway 66 in Sayre, Oklahoma.

The WTC-Sayre Criminal Justice program under the direction of Rick McCain, staged a real-life situational training scenario. The members of the Criminal Justice program used their training in a final exercise to realize their career choices.

Students observed how situations flow, split decisions are made the results of those decisions. The students also learned the importance of teamwork with other agencies, use of technology and how the command structure functions during an event.

WTC-Sayre students from Mrs. Kylee Chapman’s Health Careers program observed the emergency medical services response and even had a student roleplay the victim in the scenario. Criminal Justice students then paired up with represented law enforcement and took part in the “manhunt”.

The owners of Bobcat Creek RV and Convenience Store graciously consented to allow WTC-Sayre to conduct this exercise on their property. Thank you, Bobcat Creek, for your support of WTC and continuing education opportunities in western Oklahoma.
