Happy 95th birthday to an almost lifelong resident of Beckham County, Ola Mae Crook. She was born Ola Mae Nutt in rural western Oklahoma in Erick on April 5th, 1930. She went to school some in a town known as Dabney and in Texola as well. She later graduated from Erick High School in 1948.
She married C.B. Crook on February 1, 1950. He was a farmer and rancher, while Ola was a homemaker. They had 4 children, together, Dale, Billy, Danny, and Doug. They resided in Reydon until May 25th, 1955, when the Great Plains tornado outbreak took their home.
They moved to a farm in the Texas Panhandle for a short while to finish raising their children.
They moved back to Beckham County in 1983 on a farm just north of Erick and have lived there ever since. Her husband C. B. passed in 2013, and Ola is still living in the same house with her special dog, “Buddy”. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, OLA MAE NUTT CROOK!
