Political signs have dotted yards and properties throughout Beckham County for at least a month as several offices were being put out to voters on April 1.
The elections that seemed to garner the most attention were the municipal races in Elk City.
Citizens have been vocal among several issues, most notably downtown construction and improvements made elsewhere.
Micah Kilhoffer ultimately won his election for mayor against Shannon McAbee.
Signs throughout Elk City showed both men had passionate support.
“I don’t think we had a bad candidate for mayor,” said Matt Trotter, a downtown business owner.
Kilhoffer won with 711 votes against McAbee’s 622.
In Elk City’s Ward 2 Commissioner race, Rod Carver beat Mike McFall by larger margins.
Carver amassed 826 votes against McFall’s 476.
Rocky Andreson was returned to office as Elk City’s Ward 3 Commissioner.
Nick Lenius ran against him and brought in 479 votes. Andreson earned 826 votes.
In the Merritt School board race, Marte Mullins won a commanding victory with 270 votes against Lindsay Robinson’s 101 votes.
