Spring Break is here and also, Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Shamrock will be hosting their 78th Annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration this year beginning on Thursday evening, 3/13, and lasting through Sunday, 3/16. The carnival opens from 5:00-10:00 p.m. on Thursday, 3/13, at the Shamrock Convention Center at 400 East Railroad Avenue. Another one of the highlights that I know many Erick people go to besides the carnival will be the parade which will begin at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, 3/15, down Main Street. This is a fun event to kick offspring break for the kids! The City of Erick Government and the Roger Miller Senior citizen Center are hosting a “Whole Hog Raffle” with tickets at $10 each or three tickets for $25. Proceeds will go towards the Senior Citizen Meal Program. The drawing will be held on Friday, March 28th. Tickets are available at Erick City Hall. You can call city hall at 580-5263924.for more details also. Processing and the pig are being donated by Gail Prather and Levi & Angela Greer.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Carl Abla. Carl was a member of the EHS Class of 1950. Services will be held on Monday, March 17, at the Erick first Christian Church.
Heartfelt prayers are also being sent to the family of Jim Barfield. Services were pending at the time of this column.

Just another reminder; the City of Erick and Roger Miller Senior Citizen Center, in conjunction with SWODA, have been awarded funds to provide meals twice weekly to individuals aged 60+ or handicapped/disabled persons. The cost is $3.00 per participant and will be available for pick up or delivery on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Meals will be served by Main Street Bakery and Cafe.
