Elk City School Board holds February meeting

The Elk City School Board held their regularly scheduled meeting at the Elk City Board of Education on February 10.

Superintendent Mike Sparks said of the meeting, “We paid the bills and kept the lights on. It was 30 minutes with no executive session. We discussed facility updates Iike the track repainted, new flooring in the weight room install date end of this month. Mr. Burge will be attending OSU--Unmanned Aircraft Summit in Stillwater on March 7-8. This will be the kickoff for Elk City beginning our new Aviation and Aerospace curriculum beginning next school year. It is a great opportunity and would be a perfect introduction to the support and resources provided by ODAA and a great time to network with our existing schools/teachers.”

The financial report shows that the school is on track to be on budget.

The board also voted to approve Sparks’ new contract. The board voted to hire two new paraprofessionals — Amber Bogart and Kayla Counts.
