Merritt High School will have several years of successful track athlletes. Freshmen Preslie Taylor and Myleigh Flowers competed in multiple events.

Canute Varsity Trojanettes defeated Binger-Oney Lady Bobcats Varsity 10-8 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at eight with Canute Varsity Trojanettes batting in the top of the seventh when Meliah DeGarmo homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Despite falling down by six runs in the sixth inning, Binger-Oney Lady Bobcats Varsity tried to fight back. Binger-Oney Lady Bobcats Varsity scored six runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Baylie Allen, a single by Dru Umbarger, a single by Carli Jennings, a single by Kenley McLish, and a single by Kylan Eden.

Canute Varsity Trojanettes fired up the offense in the first inning. Madison Church’s sac fly scored one run for Canute Varsity Trojanettes.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Binger- Oney Lady Bobcats Varsity tied things up at eight. Binger-Oney Lady Bobcats Varsity scored two runs when Eden singled.

Canute Varsity Trojanettes tallied five runs in the second inning. Canute Varsity Trojanettes’s offense in the inning came from singles by Taylor Polensky, Taylor Beutler, and Kim Harris and sacrifice flies by Kylee Smith and Jade Gray.

Emily Cantwell got the start for Canute Varsity Trojanettes. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing eight runs on 13 hits and walking zero.

Umbarger started the game for Binger Oney Lady Bobcats Varsity. Umbarger went seven innings, allowing ten runs on 17 hits.

Canute Varsity Trojanettes tallied two home runs on the day. Beutler went for the long ball in the sixth inning. DeGarmo went deep in the seventh inning.

Canute Varsity Trojanettes totaled 17 hits in the game. Harris, Beutler, Polensky, Cantwell, and Kyanne Pelkey each managed multiple hits for Canute Varsity Trojanettes. Polensky, Beutler, and Harris each collected three hits to lead Canute Varsity Trojanettes. Canute Varsity Trojanettes was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Church made the most plays with six.
