Altus man charged in Beckham County with strangulation

A 31-year-old Altus man faces up to three years in prison for a felony count of assault and battery by strangulation.

The investigation began on January 18 when Elk City Police were called to a residence on the 1300 block of West First Street.

When officers arrived, they reported noticed a female crying and allegedly bleeding from her nose.

She identified Brandon Alcorta as her alleged attacker. The investigator also noted that he reportedly observed bite marks to the alleged victim’s shoulder blades.

The alleged victim also reportedly stated Alcorta had choked her.

This was allegedly the third time Alocorta had “beat her up.”

The officer reported seeing red marks on her face and neck, a cut on her left elbow, a red mark on her right elbow, and bruising on her upper lip.
