“The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell!
It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell.
The wandering child is reconciled by God’s beloved Son.
The aching soul again made whole and priceless pardon won.
When ancient time shall pass away, and human thrones and kingdoms fall; When those who here refused to pray, on rocks and hills and mountains call; God’s love so sure shall still endure, all measureless and strong; Grace will resound the whole earth round, the saints and angels song.
Could we with in the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made; Were every stalk on earth a quill, and everyone a scribe by trade.
To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; Nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky.”
The measureless, infinite love of God is Truth repeated over and over again throughout Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. We’re used to hearing it, but do we really believe it? With the wildfires raging in California, we’ll soon hear that God is judging the wickedness in Hollywood and is burning up the evil. But is that what the Bible says, or is it what frightened, angry people who are looking for a reason for the awfulness are saying about God?
A common misconception about God is that He has love for humanity. But if He has love, it could be less tomorrow then it was today; it would choose favorites, and actively reject those who didn’t respond correctly. The Bible teaches over and over that it is God’s nature to love. God is love! He doesn’t have it, He is it. This means His love cannot fluctuate or discriminate.
Most of us have at least heard John 3:16 quoted; some of us might have even memorized it in Sunday school. But few of us have really understood that it says that Jesus did not come to bring judgment, but rather eternal life and safety to the world. The Amplified Classic translation says it like this: “For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation–he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.]” “While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time Christ died for (in behalf of) the ungodly. But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, theAnointedOne)diedforus.” Romans_ Infinite Grace Ministries is a teaching/counseling ministry that offers guidance in relationships and life crises, based on the truth of God’s love for humanity made visible in Christ Jesus.
