Former Elk City teacher charged with embezzlement

A 50-year-old Elk City man has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

The investigation began on December 17, 2024, when the Elk City Police Department received a report from the Elk City Public School District related to an alleged missing shop-built stock trailer.

The trailer was reportedly insured for $10,000 and was donated to the school years prior and remained on the school’s insurance until the time that the investigation began. However, the ECPD detective learned that the trailer had been allegedly traded to a third party, who reportedly said he thought the trailer belonged to Rick Douglas Dillinger.

Dillinger was the Ag teacher at Elk City at the time.

The trade was allegedly for a cattle chute.

“During the execution of the search warrant executed at Dillinger’s residence, the clothing that was worn during the trade and exchange along with the truck that he used to pick up the cattle chute, were at the residence. The cattle chute was a located on the northeast portion of the residence,” the ECPD detective wrote.
