A 37-year-old Elk City man has been charged with first-degree burglary and violation of a protective order.
The investigation began on December 8 when the Elk City Police Department responded to an alleged burglary that was reportedly in the process.
Joshua Sims had reportedly broken a window and “pushed” the homeowner into a wall.
It was discovered that the homeowner also had an active protective order.
Sims had reportedly pushed his “way into the residence and exited shortly afterward through the back door.”
It was also allegedly revealed that Sims had sent text messages to the house’s occupants.
Video footage also appeared to match Sims, according to the police filing.
