A 34-year-old man from El Paso, Texas, is being held on a $250,000 bond in the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with aggravated cocaine trafficking and driving with a suspended license. If convicted of the drug trafficking, Richard Devora (aka Richard Aguayo) faces up to 20 years in prison.
The investigation began on December 9 at approximately 9:24 pm when an Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent reportedly observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-40 near the 11-mile marker allegedly “visibly traveling in excess of the posted 75 mph speed limit.”
The vehicle was allegedly traveling at 83 miles per hour.
The agent learned that the driver, identified as Devora, did not possess a valid driver’s license.
The agent wrote that, during the stop, he “became suspicious that he (Devora) was being deceitful about the nature of his travel from El Paso, Texas, to Oklahoma City.”
Devora was reportedly driving the vehicle “absent of the third party and could not recall the name of the city or the town that he was traveling to.”
Devora allegedly stated that he was traveling to visit an uncle, but reportedly could not provide the uncle’s address.
A state-certified narcotic K-9 was reportedly used to screen the vehicle’s exterior, which allegedly resulted in a “positive alert.”
During the vehicle’s search, the agent allegedly uncovered four packages of suspected cocaine.
The agent detailed the suspected cocaine as “kilos.”
The gross weight of the suspected cocaine was allegedly 8.8 pounds.
A presumptive test was reportedly positive for cocaine HCL.
