A 36-year-old Los Angeles, California, man is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond after being charged with trafficking illegal drugs (marijuana). The felony charge could put Vladimir Vitalievich Kurnoskin in prison for up to twenty years if convicted. The investigation began on December 9 at approximately 6 pm when an Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent was on I-40 eastbound near the 18-mile marker when she reportedly observed an eastbound white SUV allegedly “changing lanes unsafely and failing to signal 100 ft prior to making the lane change.”
The agent approached the vehicle and observed two occupants.
Kurnoskin was identified as the driver. The agent wrote that she allegedly observed “inconsistencies” in his story.
The agent also noted that the passenger’s story was “conflicting” with the driver’s story.
The agent asked to search the vehicle, which Kurnoskin reportedly denied.
The agent then reportedly utilized a narcotics K-9, which reportedly gave a “positive alert.”
The agent conducted a vehicle search, which allegedly uncovered 33 boxes of suspected marijuana.
Each box reportedly weighed between 1-2 pounds.
