Betty Lee Musgrove was born Oct. 21, 1931 in Sayre, OK to Neva Addis and Elston Merrifield. She passed away at Great Plains Medical Center in Elk City, OK. On Monday, April 10th at the age of 91 years, 5 months, 21 days.
Betty grew up in the Berlin Sayre areas where she attended school and graduated from Sayre high school in May of 1949. Betty moved with her family to Elk City where she met her future husband, Calvin Musgrove. Betty and Calvin were married on Sept. 23rd, 1950. To this union were born 5 children John, Billy, Larry, Sue, and Jerry. Betty spent her life as a homemaker raising her family while helping her husband with the family farm. Betty loved quilt making. She made some beautiful quilts, mostly by hand, she made quilts until she was 90. She had a lifelong friend Ruby Burns, her younger sister. As they got older they would talk on the phone every day, sometimes 4 times a day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elston and Neva Merrifield; her husband, Calvin, of 57 years, and son, Billy; brother, Bob Merrifield; grandchildren, Brandy and Brandon Brown, Mickey Musgrove.
She is survived by her son, John and wife Lisa Musgrove, of Elk City; son, Larry Musgrove of Carpenter, OK. Daughter, Sue Brown of Elk City, OK. Jerry Musgrove, Pawhuska, OK. 3 sisters Marion Stevens of Tulsa, OK., Ruby Burns of Gore, TX, Joann Smith of Sayre, OK. Brother, Ralph Merrifield, Ft. Smith, AR, and a host of friends and family.
