Elk City has a no-bake champion.
Elena Lopez was recently awarded the Golden Spoon for exhibiting culinary excellence and winning The Great Library No-Bake Challenge.
Lopez and the other contestants created no-bake desserts during the two-day event hosted by Elk City Carnegie Library inside Carnegie Hall.
On the event’s first day, contestants made and refrigerated cheesecakes. On day two, the participants returned to Carnegie Hall and created edible cookie dough, then cobbler in a cup.
Immediately after finishing their cobblers, the contestants’ three desserts were judged by Landry Brewer and Nathan Brewer, hosts of “The Early Morning Show” on KECO Radio.
According to the judges, the desserts were excellent, and choosing a winner was difficult.
Randi Yow of Carnegie Library awarded Lopez the coveted Golden Spoon for her first-place finish.
No-Bake Challenge contestants were Lopez, Wesley Skelton, Jacob Skelton, Jasper Inman, Jairo Vasquez, and Sara Misener.
